Intro & build description

RF and trap builds have been notoriously strong and cheap league starters. Especially as the game is evolving, it gets easier to sustain the RF due to additional mechanics introduced in the game. While you won’t be able to run RF straight away, the trap will carry you into the endgame and soon you will find yourself burning the screens of enemies with RF.

If you haven’t decided on what to play in the upcoming SEntinel league, this might be the build for you.

Build Pros

  • League starter build
  • Lots of damage with minimal investment
  • Very versatile
  • Tanky
  • More than decent clear speed

Build Cons

  • RF and traps are not for everyone

Helmet

Rare Helm

Most important mods for the helm are :
“Socketed Gems are Supported by Level 20 Burning Damage”
and
“Socketed Gems are Supported by Level 16 Concentrated Effect” as we will keep RF setup here.

Rest of the starts are secondary. If you can get a helm with life and elemental resistances, that is great.

Up until you run RF, you can use a regular rare help with high life and elemental resistances or stats for gear/skill requirements.

Body Armour

Rare Body Armour

Regular body armour with very high life and elemental resistances. If you can, get one with a craft “Gain 10% of maximum life as as extra maximum energy shield”.

Gloves

Rare Gloves

Rare gloves with high life, elemental resistances or stats.

Boots

Legacy of Fury

An absolute wonderful boots for the build. Get a pair as soon as you can.

Up until the Legacy of Fury, use any rare boots with life and elemental resistances and movement speed.

Left Ring

Rare Ring

Rare ring with high life, high elemental resistances or stats.

If you are struggling with the mana costs, consider crafting -# total mana costs of skills.

Right Ring

Rare Ring

Rare ring with high life, high elemental resistances or stats.

If you are struggling with the mana costs, consider crafting -# total mana costs of skills.

Amulet

Ashes of the Stars

Pretty much the BiS amulet for the endgame. Use a rare amulet with the life, elemental resistances or stats until you get your hands on Ashes of the Stars.

Belt

Rare Belt

Get a stygian vise or leather belt with very high life and elemental resistances.

1Hand Weapon

Unique Wand

Wand with a high spell damage, damage over time multiplier and if possible, + 1 to level of all fire spell skill gems.

Offhand

Aegis Aurora

An amazing shield to have which explains the popularity. Aegis Aurora is definitely not a budget version and don’t expect to get it very soon, however, with few lucky currency or item drops you will be able to afford Aegis Aurora in no time.

Use any rare shield with life, elemental resistance, energy shield until you can afford/find Aegis Aurora.

Jewel

Rare Jewels

1. Maximum life
2. Elemental resistances
3. Fire damage over time multiplier

Jewel

Cluster Jewels

*Prismatic Heart
*sad*st
*Widespread Destruction
*Flow of Life
*Cremator
*Student of Decay

Jewel

Megalomaniac

*Master of Fire
*Pure Guile
*Veteran Defender

Jewel

Melding of the Flesh

This jewel does not need an introduction. Pretty much one of the strongest jewels currently in the game and this jewel is the reason we want elemental resistances on every piece of gear.

Jewel

Watcher's Eye

——–
6% increased maximum Energy Shield
6% increased maximum Life
5% increased maximum Mana
+21% to Damage over Time Multiplier while affected by Malevolence
42% reduced Reflected Elemental Damage taken while affected by Purity of Elements
——–

Flask

Flask Setup

1. Bottled Faith
2. masoch*st’s Basalt Flask of Surefootedness
3. masoch*st’s Granite Flask of Tapping
4. Flagellant’s Quartz Flask of the Order
5. Delinquent’s Quicksilver Flask of the Hare
